Up early and released wedding photos to the interweb. Having coffee and realized it was Stephanie and Frank’s Finally Getting Married Wedding. I think that was the official event title.
First, I haven’t seen these guys in a couple years (since I left the winery). Figured I would show up as guest and surprise them. Spontaneity in motion. At Noon I was shooting wedding photos with these two clowns. They know how to have a good time – always. The wedding ceremony lasted 3 minutes dead on. If you even blinked – you missed it.
So I could have picked a super cute shot, but this is them.
Congratulations, Stephanie and Frank! You rock, Cheers!
Krystal & Nick Wedding
Ceremony and Reception – Everson, WA July 13, 2018
In the Clouds – Artist Point, Mount Baker, WA
Krystal and Nick’s Friday the 13th wedding in Everson, WA. Set in rural Whatcom, the evening wedding proved to everyone that Friday 13th is a lucky day. The backdrop of a candle lit boat bow and bayou behind – it felt like for a moment I was in the South again. The wedding reception won the title for most keg stands – and all without injury.
I kidnapped the newlyweds a couple days later for a freeze-out portrait session in the mountains. In the Clouds – was shot at Artist Point, Mount Baker, WA. The panorama might have been obscured by clouds, but Mount Shuksan came out briefly at Picture Lake.
Congratulations to Krystal and Nick.

The first series of two fashion-portrait fusion sessions. The enigmatic – Lutherum Ellis Mircea-Voiculet, shot on location at Fort Casey – Whidbey Island, WA. A little 80’s influence? Nothing wrong with that! There is a duality in all of us and this series of images will explore the complexities of who we are and who we want to be.The second series is coming soon, so expect the unexpected.

Mary and Will Destination Wedding Photography
Orcas Island, WA
Ceremony and Portraits – Doe Bay
Reception – Eastsound
Mary and Will celebrated their love with family and friends on one of the most beautiful places in the San Juan Islands. A long ferry ride from Anacortes drops you off at Orcas and though it isn’t that far from Bellingham – it does have a sense of remoteness. Many natives here in Washington would probably not consider it to be a Destination Wedding, but most people would say that Orcas is quite the destination. Even with a reservation, the wait times for a ferry can be long and getting off the island is another story. Mary and Will made a great choice with Orcas Island. Mary is a Marine Biologist and being surrounded by water is a big part of her life. Will is an artist and set designer for theater and fits in well with the bohemian culture on the island.
“If this van’s a rockin’…”
The Wedding day was an all day event, filled with many memorable moments. The first moment of the day was the van. “If this van’s a rockin’…” well, you might want to put the parking brake on first. Luckily, no one was injured when the van rolled down hill and crashed into a cabin. Try and explain that one to your insurance company. There was plenty of time to explore the island in the morning. To shed the anxiousness, Mary and Will took a kyak paddle after coffee with friends. It never rains on my weddings – never. The clouds parted and the sky was deep blue.
The ceremony was a classic and simple. A few sunflowers, a chuppah, friends, family and a priest. Set on an overlook, almost surrounded by water. Everything was personal and thoughtful. Readings and music were performed by friends and family. Vows were written and added a emotional element. The bride wasn’t the only one crying. The ceremony was over in 20 minutes, but time seemed to stop for the bride, groom and guests as everyone was enjoying the moment. Portraits followed the ceremony and were shot lightning fast. A photographer can’t hold up the reception and the party! Shooting the portraits started with a group of guys mooning us. Again, at every turn there was something to keep you guessing what was next.
The reception was held in Eastsound at Oddfellow’s Hall. I can’t tell you enough how much this is a great location for a wedding reception. I would be back in a couple years to shoot another wedding here on the island and the bride and groom chose Odd Fellow’s as well. Plenty of room to party, dance and socialize. The personal touches Mary and Will added were amazing. Beautiful tarts were baked by Mar’s sister a professional baker. Will painted the three large murals after flying in from North Carolina. The murals signify meaningful events, friends and love for Mary.
How he did it in a day still stuns me. When Will first saw the wedding photos, he mentioned how the photos and wedding were exactly how he envisioned it in the murals.
Congratulations to Will and Mary and many happy years ahead. Cheers!

Rivka and Mark
Bohemian Orcas Island Wedding
If I needed to pick a favorite wedding, this would be it. Not because the images are the best wedding photographs ever. I always feel that I can do better. What separates this wedding from the rest is the fusion of rich, cultural traditions and modern bohemian style. Rivka is Jewish and Mark is German and the wedding guests came from all over the world. Truly, a destination wedding. At every moment – from before the wedding ceremony to the final dance at the reception, there was something happening. A camera was in hand the whole day and It was fun to be a part of.
There was also a spontaneity as some things just happened, even the bride and groom were kept on their toes by the guests. The Jewish and German traditions had a personalized, multicultural modern twists. Before the wedding, each family did toasts to the bride and groom. Not too many tears, but some amazing words of encouragement and lots of laughter. Instead of the bride walking down the aisle, the two families united and walked arm in arm to their seats followed by the bride and groom. The ceremony was 30 minutes, packed with songs, chants, poems, rings, kiss, vows, candle lighting, bread and breaking a plate. At the reception, lanterns hung on the trees and inside Oddfellow’s Hall. Both Rivka and Marc work and live around the world. These were all brought from Asia for the wedding. The dried and fresh flowers were grown on Rivka’s family farm in Orcas Island. The dried flowers were made over two-years. Near the altar and chhupa, there was a large, detailed mandala done out the flowers.
Rivka and Mark were truly in love and there wasn’t a time after the entrance they were not together. I ran into Rivka at the local food Co-Op recently and they continue to work and live abroad with their daughter.

RICCI AND SHAWN WEDDING 2.0 PHOTOGRAPHY
EAGLE HAVEN WINERY – SEDRO-WOOLLEY, WA
RUSSELL CHANDLER – PHOTOGRAPHER
How many bride’s get two weddings and to the same groom? Not too many! Ricci and Shawn’s wedding at Eagle Haven Winery might have been the second one, but it was the one they had been planning. Ricci’s grandmother, Maria, defied medical prognosis and attended the wedding. I am sure, that was the best present anyone could give. Wedding highlights included a limo service, great wine and stunning location. Eagle Haven Winery is also an orchard and a terrific backdrop for wedding portraits. A little less drama this time around and everyone had a great time at their rustic, country wedding in the rural Upper-Skagit valley.

Hello, my name is Assunta.
I am a wedding celebrant or what many call, officiant. Originally from Italy, from where I was born and grew up on the beautiful island of Ischia, I moved to the United States in my 20’s and to the Pacific Northwest a few years later. Since 2011, I have had the honors of marrying couples. In December 2012 I witnessed the passing of Ref74, which gave same gender couples the right to marry. I am hoping that one day- everyone, everywhere will have the right to marry the one they love. Although I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, I do travel free of charge unless I need to get on an airplane or go out of state. If that is your situation, we can talk about travel fees. I speak Italian as well as English and can officiate your special ceremony in Italian. I am also a make-up artist and licensed esthetician and can easily include those services in your wedding. I marry couples of all denominations and same gender. I believe that love knows no gender and should be celebrated in every form.
But, enough about me, What is your story? How can I make your day memorable? See below a list of possible choices. Of course, if you do not see what you want or need, I can customize everything.
The Fee for my services will include:
- A personalized ceremony
- Attend Rehearsal
- Directions on how to get a marriage license
- A cultural tradition to your ceremony, if you wish and need more suggestions
- As early as you need me at your wedding
- As many consultations as needed, online or in-person
- Unlimited communication after I am hired
- A guide to writing your own vows
- A draft of your ceremony for review
- Travel up to 50 miles from Skagit Valley, WA free of charge
- Make-up services, as needed
I can also be available for elopement, intimate ceremony and have amazing suggestions for you! Keep on reading…
Your wedding day should be spectacular and an occasion to remember, therefore if you need a last minute, small wedding with just family and a few friends or if you are eloping, I can help to customize a short and sweet ceremony, which is both memorable and romantic. Let me know your needs, wants and likes and I’ll be happy to help make your special day, a memorable one. No matter how big, how small, how different and how creative. I have no limits.
Something Different and Oh! So very Romantic!
Elope to Italy or not elope to Italy, have a full wedding there. I can make it happen. Remember I am from Italy and have ALL the connections we need to make your special day an amazing fairy tale event. I am in partnership with a wedding and event planner and consultant. Elite Weddings is from Italy and we can make things happen. Just say the word –Italia!
But wait…There is more.
I happen to be married to a photographer and not just any photographer. Russell Chandler has been photographing people and the world for 30 years and has been on assignments all over the globe and can be easily convinced to photograph your wedding. So, if you are in need of a photographer, in the United States or in Italy – let me know.
To Reserve a Date
To reserve a date for your ceremony: I accept cash, check or Credit Cards in person. Please note: Your date and time are not reserved until I receive your booking fee of $200. All booking fees are applicable to the total fee and are non-refundable. Your balance will be due one month prior to your wedding date. If you have to cancel your wedding date for unforeseen circumstances, I am happy to reschedule for another mutually agreed upon date. This offer will expire two-months from your wedding date. I am usually pretty booked-up, my suggestion is to reserve a spot as soon as you decide on the wedding date. Sometimes, I have the privilege to officiate a last minute wedding, so please. Do check with me on dates.
Now a Final Word.
I charge $425.00 for local weddings, up to 50 miles from Skagit Valley, WA. There will be a slight increase of fee if I need to travel outside the 50 miles. A medium increase if I have to travel out of state. A bigger increase if I need to get on an airplane. If make-up is needed for the bride, my fee is $125.00. For bridesmaids add an additional $50 per person. We can talk about fees when we need to talk about those fees.
One thing you can be sure of is that I will do all I can do to immortalize your special day. I will work with you, be there for you, answer your questions and make my part as easy and stress free as possible. Looking forward to meeting you!
