Born in Seattle, WA, I call the Pacific Northwest home. Work and adventure has taken me around the world countless times and there is nothing more comforting than the mountains, Sound and rain. It’s also an inspiration that resonates and is infused in my photographs.
Photography is my craft and a life-long passion. Looking through the lens and creating imagery, I take a totally a different perspective to capture the emotion and essence of a person. My professional start was in the high Himalaya while working in remote villages and climbing in the great ranges. Landscape images are typical focus of the adventurer. In contrast, I have always looked at the people in their environments and the interactions of those people in their location. My professional photography experience is versatile and extensive: from wedding and portrait to editorial and commercial photography. Though my portfolio spans 25 years, I still am driven by the creativity and excitement of the next series of images.
In keeping with a philosophy of honest beauty and no digital distortion – I use many non-professional or alternative models. I also have firm standards on retouching. I do not alter or augment in Photoshop and prefer to keep the imperfections that make us all unique. Honest beauty is capturing the real person and seeing the soul.
